Western Field Services, a divison of Western Energy Services Corp., is hiring a Purchasing Coordinator to join our growing team!

Western Energy Services Corp. is an oilfield service company which provides contract drilling services through Horizon Drilling in Canada and Stoneham Drilling Corporation in the United States. In addition, Western provides well servicing through Eagle Well Servicing in Canada, and provides rental services through Aero Rental Services in Canada.

Position Summary                   

The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the tactical and strategic Purchasing and Procurement of all commodities and supplies purchased by Western Field Services.  The Purchasing Coordinator will also be responsible for supporting in the development and the implementation of continuous improvement projects for Western Field Services.  The Purchasing Coordinator will be familiar with data analytics and how to analyze large sets of data to help support and back up purchasing decisions. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Purchasing Manager with the purchase of inventory and materials for Western Field Services
  • Provide support to the Director, Procurement and Purchasing Manager to develop and implement continuous improvement tools
  • Support new purchasing objectives and procedures for continuous improvement of the purchasing process
  • Prepare and review purchase orders for accuracy and completeness
  • Resolve errors on purchase orders as required
  • Assist with stock rotations as needed
  • Monitor inventory and ensure purchase orders are issued to ensure optimal inventory levels
  • Confer with vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability and delivery schedule
  • Monitor price increases and communicate necessary changes as required
  • Work within company purchasing policies and procedures
  • Place purchase orders upon regular review of customer and site requirements
  • Additional tasks as assigned

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Obtained or working towards a Supply Chain Management degree or designation is an asset
  • 1 – 3 years of Experience in a related position
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems with Great Plains preferred but not required
  • Effective at planning and prioritizing with Strong organization skills
  • Proven ability to develop and cultivate relationships within a limited time frame
  • Superior time management skills
  • Oilfield drilling experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanor

Special Conditions of Employment

  • Overtime may be required based on activity level

Although we have operational offices across the province, this position is based in our Leduc, AB office.
